by Steven Savile
"Gabriel Rush takes a photograph of a beautiful sad-faced hooker in a down town bar and is stunned by what he sees when the picture is developed. At first he thinks it is a flaw in the photograph, but then he recognizes it for what it is, the mark of the Trinity Killer. It is the same mark that scars the faces of mutilated corpses that are turning up all over New York City.
Racing to warn the woman, Gabriel instead finds himself haunted by visions and fighting against time to save his future, the woman he loves, his friends, and - when the killer's identity is finally revealed - his own sanity."

In October 1969, a literary genius was born - oh yes! And at the age of 19 he strung a bunch of words together, little knowing that some time later he was to become something rather special.
Happily for said genius, a.k.a. Steven Savile, I'm no competition to his amazing scribbles, as this blog clearly shows (in fact, the words that currently come to mind are "... any more use than a fart in a wet hole (sorry Steven, just had to nick that line)). So I do the honourable thing of stalking - *cough* - following his career with total devot... genuine admiration: knowing that all he expects in return is a cup of coffee and a slice of fruit cake (of the non-nutty human variety!) once in a while.
But back to that 19 year old Steven: I've just stepped out from his world of Gabriel Rush and Lieutenant Dan Mannelli, policing Manhattan's dark side - the Trinity Killer at work, with no obvious motivation other than to kill and make a mark on the world. We're not talking 'Cagney and Lacey' with blood smeared brush strokes of ‘Q: The Winged Serpent’ splattered about, but you're getting the idea... getting, that is, not 'got'. There's much more, oh so much more. "The magic that shouldn't, couldn't, be real." The images conjured up by Steven are far more intense and disturbing. But you really do have to give it a try for yourself: not that you need further encouragement, as my suggestion should be good enough in its own right, yeah? - pop across to Jeremy Duns Blogspot The Debrief and see what he and Steven have to say on the matter if you don’t believe me...

Remember, this novel saw the birth of a genius, a genius I say!
Happy reading. Mwahahahaha.... ;)
